Teachers' day aims to affirm teachers' contribution to education. Different countries have different periods of teacher's day. In the modern history of China, teachers' day has been marked on different dates for many times.

It was not until 1985, when the 9th session of the Standing Committee of the 6th National People's Congress passed the State Council's proposal on the establishment of teachers' day, that it was truly decided that September 10 every year should be the teachers' day. The first teachers' Day was celebrated in Beijing on September 10, 1985. This year is the 39th teachers' day in China.

On Teacher's Day, many students send their teachers a card or a bouquet of flowers to show their appreciation and respect for their teachers. On the school side, some hold Teachers' Day commendation ceremony to award teachers with prizes and certificates, while others organize school students to present singing and dancing performances for teachers.
