On October 25, the annual award ceremony of the World Sailing Association was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The World Sailing Association commended Qingdao's efforts to build a Sailing City and awarded Qingdao the "2022 Presidential Development Award" of the World Sailing Association. Qingdao became the only award-winning city of 2022 in the world. Qu Chun, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of Qingdao Major International Sailing Events (Festivals) and President of the Qingdao Navigation School of the General Administration of Sport of China, accepted the award.

The website of the World Sailing Association reported and highly affirmed Qingdao's achievements in the introduction and holding of sailing events, the promotion and popularization of sailing sport, and the international exchange as well. After winning the "Outstanding Contribution Award to the Development of Sailing Sport" of the World Sailing Association in 2015 and the "Award for Ten Years of Yufeng City" of the World Sailing Association in 2016, Qingdao has once again stood on the world podium with its outstanding achievements in the field of sailing after six years.
